page takes care of my best friend Rob in the hopes that our friendship
will always be! I was dumped on Rob when my brother-in-law took me
to find my first pc in November of 1992 because Francis lived so far away.
Un-foreseeing any humongus problem, Rob agreed to keep my computer lined
out while Francis was gone. No one knew I would hit the board and
run with it! I just wanted to use it, but I couldn't stop learning!
It was like a raging fire that couldn't be stopped. Then I decided
to try to find a means of supporting myself by going to college.
When I started, I thought 'programs' were something genius' did in mathematical
equations of some kind. Picture me, the budding 'genius'! Ha!
Little did I know I'd signed up for 'programming'. When I realized what I'd got myself into - panic set in; you see, I don't quit! You can blow me away; make me mad; make me fight and make me cry - but you can't make me quit! I started calling Rob with things I didn't understand, not often at first. The farther I got into the classes, the less I understood and the more I called Rob. I think he realized he'd made a mistake in helping me when he spent several hours trying to teach me how the 'nested if' structure worked. I had him so confused that he finally agreed that I was doing it right and I came home only to receive an immediate call because after I'd left, he realized I was still doing it wrong. He started all over again! Give me enough time and I can convince a frog that it can swim in ice! I think
Rob was amazed at my total ignorance of computers and was about to give
up on me when all of a sudden things started making sense. He says
I learn fast, but I don't think he believed that in the beginning!
Thank you, Rob, for not giving up on me! Our only basis for friendship
was computers, but it grew into a caring and sharing of other thoughts
and problems. A strong trust developed and we can discuss anything!
We're 'buds', as Rob would put it!
He's great!
